Munchkins
What are munchkins?
Munchkins are a kind of person that likes all the most powerful guns, and most powerful robots, and the most powerful power armor. They seem to think if they have the best gun, they will have more fun at the session, the more powerful, the more fun. I think they are wrong. In fact, I'm positive they are wrong. Just because you have the most powerful character in the game, doesn't mean your gonna have the most fun! At all! Power and fun have nothing to do with one and other! Okay?
What are some examples of munchkin stuff?
Well, munchkin equipment usually consists of guns from South America Two, Phase World(R), and Phase World(R) Sourcebook. Armor and robots are usually from Coalition War Campaign, Atlantis, Phase World(R) (at least ships), and South America Two. If you find yourself or someone you know always choosing stuff from these books, seek help! I can provide some measures to "unmunchkining", if you want this help, please feel free to E-mail me. This can really ruin any compaign, any mission, and any friends.
How can I stop from being a munchkin?
Well, the first step is accepting it. Its not that big of a deal. Heck, if all the people you role-play with are munchkins, than thats okay! The next step is for one mission (just an Hook Line and Stinker is fine) be a non-powerful character, like a vagabond or something-just to get in the habit of not always having to rely on that big plasma cannon, but instead relying on your brain. Now comeon, I know you've got a brain, if you didn't you wouldn't be smart enough to role-play. So, try and continue to play non-powerful characters, and start to realize that you don't need the biggest powerarmor/gun/robot/whatever to have the most fun, realize that it doesn't matter! Get to think that you can get some of those more powerful types of stuff as you gain in experience, through role-playing. But it takes time. How can I stop a friend of mine from being a munchkin?
Well, first of all, don't go and blurt out "Ha! Your a munchkin! Ha!". Just try and calmly tell him or her "Bob, I think your kinda maybe picking some too powerful equipment. I'd like it if you would try to play rogue scholar, or maybe a city rat, you know, a less powerful kind of guy." With that, kinda follow the steps that you would for you being a munchkin (see above).
